A Strange But True Motorcycle Legal Case

Trouble seems to constantly play Joe and Sam. Sam likes Joe's motorcycle so well that he decides to buy one for himself. He finds an ad on craigslist and pays cash for a used motorcycle. Mr. seller gives Sam the title. Santa has learned from Joe's mistakes. The motorcycle is registered, inspected, and insured before Sam ever rides it. Sam has also got his license endorse for motorcycle. However, he forgets one major thing. He neglects to turn in the title, pay the sales tax, get a new title in his name.

Six months later, the license tags are about to expire. Sam realizes he must find the title to be able to get the new sticker for the tags. The title is lost. He can't find it anywhere. The tax assessors office tells him that the last registered owner is the only one who can file for a lost title. Sam has no idea how to reach the old owner. He can't remember his name.

When he returns to the address, the old owner has moved. The new tenants know nothing about the old owner. Sam returns to the tax office. They run a check on the motorcycles license number it gives send the old owners name in the address that was on the title. It is the same address that Sam has already tried. He tries the new phone number but the old owner, Mr. Seller, has disappeared. 

Whitney tags expire, Sam can know longer ride his motorcycle. What can you do? As a last resort, Sam mails a letter to Mr. Seller at the old address, hoping that the post office will forward it to some new address. Send gets lucky and the letter is forwarded to Mr. Seller, who calls Sam.

Although the situation has a happy ending, the entire hassle could have been avoided if Sam had filed the title right away.
