True Legal Story Number 5 (Joe)
Remember true legal story number 2 and Joe, who was arrested for cursing at an officer? After he bonded out of jail, Joe went to see his attorney. After talking his version of what happened, Joe says to the lawyer, "You won't believe where they put me. I thought jails were segregated."
His lawyer links and wonders if this guy has ever heard of the civil rights movement? Surely he doesn't mean racially segregated? The lawyer that asks if he meant racially segregated? Joe says, "No, no, no, not like that I meant they put me in a cell with criminals."
Puzzled the lawyer wonders where Joe would expect to be put. Joe explains that he thought there would be a separate cell for college student. The lawyer nearly dies laughing. No, there is no separate cell or holding area for young people over 16 years of age, for traffic offenders, or for college students. You will get thrown in the tank with anyone else recently arrested regardless of the offense.
