True Legal Story Number 7
As told to My Hometown Lawyers by a local north Miami law firm that handles alcohol offenses:
To be sure Sam doesn't get in anymore trouble, Joe keeps an eye on him. Joe decides to buy some beer at a convenience store. He is 21, so we can legally do so. Sam stays in the car. Remember, sins not yet 21. Joe puts the beer in the backseat. He does not open one, because he knows it is illegal to drink and drive.
Unbeknownst to the two brothers, they are being watched by police officers. The officers decides Sam is a minor, and they stopped the car. The officers ticket Sam for minor in possession, even though Sam is in the front seat and the beer is in the backseat. They also to get Joe for providing alcohol to a minor.
Joe can't believe it! Back to his lawyer once again. This lawyer could make a career out of their family. His lawyer as a good chance of proving that Sam did not possess alcohol nor did Joe give it to him. But it will probably have to be done in a trial. That means substantial attorney fees.
